check with the dealer for warranty and for service bulletin. its not right for a four yr old trany to be like this. this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle for years now and they have not engineered it right. check fluid level, if level is ok, and if you dont work on cars, take it to a shop and sell everything you own or start saving up to pay for the repair costs.. there .. problem solved. but ... if you do work on cars, flash out fluid ,check filter screen and refill. use trany additive if you like. if problem persists, replace valve body assy. and refill trany again. or if you want ,do a rebuilt exchange. this should do it.

the answer is that the gearshift is counter-intuitive. As you pull the gearshift towards you the detent stops the gearshift in ""D". If you continue to pull the gearshift towards you it won't drop down to the lower gears. The answer is to pull the gearshift towards you to "D" then after it stops in "D", push the gearshift away from you as you pull it down into the lower gears. You'll find that you won't have any problems. You don't have to 'force' it forward from "D", just gently push the gearshift towards the dash as you push it downward. I can't be sure if pushing it away from you from the moment you take it out of park will allow you to bypass D and go straight to D1 because I simply can't remember if that is true or not; it may well be that pushing it away once you disengage P will allow it to drop straight down to D1 without stopping in D. You'll have to try it to see.anyway, this is normal operation; there is no problem with the transmission or the gearshift linkage.hope that answers your question
