You won't have a 250 hp screamer on that budget, but you could get a bit more zip out of it with a header, cold air intake, and cat-back exhaust on that budget. However, don't expect these to add more than 10 hp - and that's a rather high estimate. There aren't many super-potent parts for this car on your budget, except nitrous with its need to keep refilling the bottle.

Being as its an EX it WILL NEVER be a rocket. Also without a turbo you are quite limited on power. The most you could ever expect to see from that motor is about 230 HP and that completley built for high compression. The cost of that build would be close to $9,000 including labor. The $1500 will not go far. If you buy a Greddy exhaust $600, AEM cold air intake $300 and a good header DC sports $400, your budget will be gone and all you will gain is about 15 HP. Unfortunatley the only "true" way to get maximum power is forced induction. Speed costs money how fast do you want to go?
