hondas those yrs usually dont come with power steering because the in the past the company thought they didnt need to put any powersteering because of the light frame and that it weight only 2300lb or less compare to a ford mustang that wights 3000+lbs

I would think all cars say over the last 30 years or more would have it. But if you are having a hard time steering and especially going around corners and you are having to turn and turn your steering wheel and maybe yours does not come with it. Call your dealership and they can tell you.

It is very possible that it did not come with power steering. It wasn't very common among lower end Honda models until the mid 90's. There were earlier models that did have power steering but it was only an option. Little economy car boy racer rice rockets usually didn't offer the option. There were lots of different trim levels though, dx, ex, si, so on and so on.

Power steering was available on the early 90's Honda Civic on the upper trim levels and more on the sedans than hatchbacks. Chances are, your Civic does not have power steering. It would be harder to steer at lower speeds because of this. One way to help ease steering effort is to be moving while turning (instead of trying to turn the wheel while the vehicle is stopped). This might help make parking maneuvers less of a work-out.

Probably rack & pinion steering, not power. I've given you a link to a site that explains rack and pinion steering.

It's possible, but not certain. Power steering was common on economy cars even in the early 80s. Check under the hood and see how many things are connected to the engine pulley via belts. There should be at least the alternator. If the car has air conditioning, the AC compressor, as well. And if there's one more item run by a pulley, that'll be the power steering pump. (and it it's supercharged, there'll be one more still, but that's unlikely)If the power steering is broken (leaking, pump not working, whatever), that may or may not be a problem. With some cars, the power steering is built to withstand being forced, in some it is not good for it. Does the car make kind of a whirring noise when you're turning the wheel? If so, that could be the power steering pump churning nothing. In that case you've probably got a power steering fluid leak. When I had that happen (84 Corolla) it was easily fixed with Valvoline fluid with seal conditioners (softens the seals and makes them expand). If not, the pump could need replacing. And of course, if it really doesn't have PS, just enjoy your new muscular forearms.
