I have an 86 Honda Accord LX-I (A20A3). It needs to be replaced. I know someone who is selling their engine out of an 87 Honda Prelude SI, and he says that they are the same exact engine and it can work in mine. Is this true?

well yes and no might need diff engine mounts and stuff like that but its doable

bro why would u wanna spend the hussle on1) engine mounts2) harness mpfi3) wiring diagram4) computer5) fuse boxetc....for this model car?i just say sell it and get ur self onother car likecivic 90-91 accord 90-93 soething like that'of cours eif u are in the import

you can put any Honda motor in any Honda. in 86 i think they were carburetors instead of fuel injection. they introduced that in like 88 with the dual point fuel injection. try to grab a a B series if you can afford it, or a f22a1(easiest to find cheap). if you want the engine from the prelude, look for the engine model number if it is the same then its the same, it should be around the headers or close to the valve cover. keep your old engine b/c you might need something from it on the new one. not everything goes bad in a engine
