well 100 000 miles = 160 000 km (I'm form Canada), and your supposed to change it every 50 000 miles or so or about every 6 year (depending on the distance you travel)so if it hasn't had a replacement since '96 its time.PS if the timing belt breaks down it'l cost around 5 time more than the cost to replacing it. And its not cheap to replacing the timing belt to start.okay hopefully that kinda helps you out

6th generation Honda use timing belt. Checking takes too much time (have to remove valve cover) so most mechanics would not do it for free.Supposed to be replaced every 100K or so. Replace the water pump and all V-belts.

Well, my mom ran her 1990 Accord to 220,000 miles on one timing belt (not a good idea, but possible). Anyway, I wouldn't call it WAY overdue. The manual will want you to play it on the safe side, because changing the timing belt in a Honda engine means possibly preventing complete engine failure
I replaced my '96 Accord's at 109,000. So yeah, do it sometime soon. |
