Default how can you tell if a 2004 honda CRV is all wheel or 2-wheel?

is there something in the VIN number or something that would give me a clue? it isn't marked and their handbook doesn't state. Thanks!

If you're driving behind it there's a cradle you can see under the body. I like to call it the ballsack. There's nothing in the cradle on two wheel drives. And it "looks" empty.

the 2004 CRV EX model only comes with AWD, so that is easy. if it is the LX version it could be either FWD or AWD. the best way to check is look under the car and see if there is a driveshaft. the driveshaft is a big cylindrical piece of metal that goes from the transmission to the rear differential. It will be very obvious. If there is no driveshaft, it is FWD, if there is a driveshaft it is AWD

I'm pretty sure that in 2004 it only came as an AWD. Works as a front drive until the front starts to slip then the rear wheels get power to help. If you look under the vehicle down the middle you will see a long shaft going to a center box that will have drive axles like the fronts coming out of it and into the rear wheels.

You need to look under the car for the rear differential - I've posted the link to the picture of it.
