Default I have a Honda Civic 1992 old girl slow to get going, especially up slopes and hills, is there a

problem ? Engine seems fine, no strange noises, is an auto, for an old car is a good runner being Japanese. Just seems abit slow on the off and wondered if there was anything I could do to fix it.

Check the compression; might be crying for a valve job worst case; might just need a tune up and a carb cleaning.

Ask Jenson Button, his Honda is also very slow!It could be your auto box slipping, engine makes a noise as if it wants to go, but the car is a bit slow off the mark?In fact reading your question again, I am almost 100% certain this is a auto box giving up the ghost. If that is the case sell it quick, expensive repair.

If it still has the catalytic converter on it might be plugged. This happened to my sisters geo metro which is also an automatic.

Ooh, I'd get it along to an accredited Honda mechanic - check the yellow pages. He'll be in a better position to advise you.Although, my Mum's Corsa lost power going up slopes and hills and would conk out. Dealer found nothing wrong but the problem persisted. I changed the HT leads, the distributor cap (slight crack in it) the plugs (about 5 years old) and the rotor arm (in the distributor) and it goes like a bomb again.

hondas dont have carbs. but have your compersion tested, after hundreds of thousands of miles the rings tend to go, if it was a valve you notice smoke blueish black smoke coming out the exhaust. You might want to replace it with a hipper JDM motor which could go for $500-700 ship depends where you live and they would have avg 40,ooomiles

Check the transmission fluid level JoJo and top up if necessary. It could also be that the selector cable needs re-rigged so that the kickdown operates at the proper revs. It's simple enough job for anyone with a bit of mechanical know-how and won't cost a frotune.Nice little cars, the Civics.
