I have a 99 honda civic and the car has a very difficult time starting. Especially after its been sitting there for a while like over night. For example it will start just find one day but the next day it has a very difficult time starting. It turns over so its not the starter. Also when i get it started and start driving I go to shift to 2nd gear and then the car shuts off, and won't start again. Any mechanics out there experience this problem.what about the crankshaft sensor you think it could be that?

if everything else electrical is working like ur radio and windows then its not ur battery, but it sounds like u have bad starter or altenator

Hmmm, you might want to try getting your fuel pumps and fuel injectors checked & cleaned...Sounds like the engine is only getting partial fuel (which is why the hit & miss startups) and when you shift out of gear, the engine will rev a bit (which sends more fuel to fuel injectors through pumps) which if either of the fuel pumps or the injectors aren't working right, will cause the engine to cut out or cough itself to death.Definitely check your fuel delivery system (also have the fuel filter replaced while you're at it).

Ah yes. I hate that crap. Same thing happened on my CRX. So should be about the same on an ex. I did eventually find it to be a bad ICV. You can actually look up the ohms and test this to find out. If it isn't the ICV I would clean up the fuel injectors.

try calling a honda dealer in your area and see if there are any recalls on your car. i have a 98 civic and there was a recall on some part of the ignition.
