The car fluctuates rapidly when the ac is turned on. I know that its normal for a car to lose power when the ac compressor kicks on, however, the car is idleing too abruptly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if the compressor is cycling on and off rapidly it is an indication that the refrigerant in the air conditioning system is low. It is not uncommon for air conditioning systems to lose refrigerant as the molecules of the refrigerant gas work their way out around seals and into the atmospherse over time. It is about 'normal' for the air conditioning systems to require a recharge every 7 years or so. Your car is right at that point.it will be about $125 to remove, recycle and replace the refrigerant in your air conditioning system. Have it done by someone who does air conditioning system service. Don't buy the recharge kit at walmart and try to use that or you'll wind up overcharging the system and further dimishing the performance of your air conditioning systemhope that answers your question
