how do u find out if an engine is stolen?

Try the DMV. If you are in California then try the CHP.

look at the serial number and look it up and see if it was reported stolen.

There is no way on a honda to tell 100% so if you think the motor you have or want to buy is stolen. there is no way of telling if its stock

No one knows. In US, the VIN# is only on the chassis of the car. I think approx 6 of them. nothing on the engine. in Japan (and other right hand drive countries) there is some sort of identification on the engine. no way of telling if an engine is stolen here in US. Been there, done that.

As a cop, There is a VIN number on the engine. check with your local police department.

try looking under the hood. if there is a large empty space,that's where the engine is suppose to be. if you are talking about different numbers on the engine thenwhat at the drivers side bottom of windshield.. this could be a rebuilt engine, or a new one replacing a bad one...

check the VIN number on the engine and see if it matches up with the VIN of your car
