Default 94 honda accord lx starting problems?

My 94 honda accord lx (224,000miles) has had starting issues for a LONG time, and no one seems to really know what's going on, I've replaced the rotor, and it helped for about a week. The car turns over but won't catch sometimes, usually after running, then turning it off for 10 min or less and trying to restart it. I then have to wait about 10 min before it will do anything other than just turn over. I've tried turning the key and letting the fuel pumps charge or whatever and that doesn't seem to make a difference. It's a very finicky problem that shows up with no apparent pattern. Any help would relieve a LOT of frustration!

I would say it might be your ignition switch, me and my daughter have Honda's and this happened to both of our cars and that's what it was.

My truck had this same problem a few months ago, and I just went and bought a new starter and flywheel. It shouldn't cost that much but that's what it might be.

Hmmm, I wonders. Have you checked your distributor cap and the air intake system? It just might be that enough moisture is condensing in the air intake system. With too much moisture, the car would be very hard to start. That would evaporate after approx 8 mins, which would allow the car to start again. Also, how long has it been since you've replaced the spark plugs? Depending on the quality, those should be changed every 90K or so.

I had similar issues with my 99 Accord. It can be very frustrating, I know. Mine would start fine, sometimes for weeks then would not run...sometimes had to sit for hours before it would start. Finally, after some research, I took it to the dealer and told them to replace the "main relay" It cost me about $200.00 bucks...so far it is working fine...Good Luck! Let me know if this solves your problem.

It is the Ignition Crontrol Module, This is a common problem with hondas. sometimes the car will start fine and sometimes the car just won't start. The Module is a silver box located above the steering column, behind the dash. It costs 55 dollars and only takes about 10 minutes to change.

this can be the temperature "sensor" unit? (not the sender unit to the temp.gauge)... if this sensor is faulty?...the engine management unit may believe your car is cold when its fully warmed up! and over choke with fuel?..after 10 minutes or so...it will start as though theres no problem!...thats what happened to my Honda concerto 1.6...every time i stopped in a petrol station...since they are both Hondas it could be a possibility?........check it out by going to the breakers and getting another unit...cos they are relatively expensive to buy...

fuel pump is weak or the sock filter on the fuel pump is stopped up(caused by running your car to low on gas) or it is your secondary fuel filter under your car(you can usually find it under the car on the drivers side just behind the front seat on the rail of the car)
