it could be air in the system or water is not moving in the pump or a restriction.or whoever installed your headgasket, did it wrongBut it could be alot of things.

ok white bread.Did you check that adequate flow is happening in the radiator? Did you bleed all air from the system?I know you said the tstat is new, but new parts do fail.\In my shop I would use a thermal gun to measure for hot or cold spots in the radiator as well as temp at the top and bottom hoses. If one is cold just after the tstat, well, the tstat is probably not opening. Lots of options, start with flow. and don't overheat it while diagnosing it, headgasket repairs cost lots. *but I guess you know that by now.good luck

Many problems can cause this =(First suggestion would be to replace (not just clean) your thermostat, they are inexpensive and are an easy fix for most cars. Testing the coolant for exhaust gases would point to a leaking/blown head gasket, ensure the fan is actually working, fan shroud in good condition and good airflow. Ensure all air is bled from the system (there should be a high point vent). Flush your coolant system with a good chemical flush (if not done recently).

I don't know, but I had a Nissan Maxima once that had a special bleed to get air out of the engine block. If the coolant was ever drained, you had to bleed the air out when you refilled the coolant. Check your owner's manual.

Check if you have flow.sometimes you get a air trapped.try pouring water down the hose that comes from the water pump.

.First off did you have the Radiator roded out? or put on a flow meter?OK umm do your fans run all the time?they will if your truly overheating plus if you turn it off and wait a few minutes to heat soak(gets hotter when the pump stops)Does it crank slow or strain the starter like a weak battery? and last of all did anyone check the water temp as it runs with the cap off as i have replaced or reset many a temp gauge that was out of sync or the fan sensor.ps.....did they pressurize your head(s)

That's a tough one. If it was overheating before the head gasket was replaced, then I would double check the pump, thermostat, and finally for leaks. The radiator may not have a leak, but could be plugged up, though would be unusual for '95.If started after the gasket was replaced, then take it back to the person who did the repair. May have been a bad gasket, installed poorly, or the wrong gasket. Good luck.
