Default I don't understand..?

I have a Honda Accord V6 and it's top speed is 150, and someone else has a Honda Accord V4 engine, and they're top speed is 160 or a little over. I thought the V6 would be faster.

Annie the gauge cluster inst the true top speed on these cars. 1) Honda limits most of there cars to a top speed of 125MPH2) Different cars from different years got different gauges

bigger engines have more power, but their max RPM's are lower. plus the 4 cylinder might be turbocharged or sup-ed up in other ways. Plus the gear ratio's are different for the different engines (to compensate for the differences in power and RPM's), If the other car is a manual transmission and your's is an automatic that would make the other car faster also, there are a lot more variables than just the number of cylinders in the engine.oh yeah, and what the guy above me said is true too, the numbers on the gauge don't mean that is the top speed, and most cars these days are electronically programmed to max out somewhere around 120mph to prevent people from going 160.

Why would you want to go that fast. Think what would happen if you were to get a ticket or killed someone going that fast.

it's speed is limited by a 'govenor'...so if you want more speed from your car...get a different chip for the engine computer.V6 just means it has more cylinders, not more power.

Your car nor your friend's car will NOT do anything near 150 or 160.Don't confuse what the speedo says and what the car will do. They put those speedo for marketing reason. You have to admit you were fooled. The cars (computers) are programmed to artificially limit the top speed.Have fun with your car (just be safe).===Don't forget to vote for the BEST ANSWER - please - whoever it may be.FACT: You also get +3 points when you vote for BEST ANSWER

A four cylinder Accord can't go anywhere near 160. I have an 05 - I know. If anyone has one that does - it's not stock, not by a long shot. The V6 Accord is both quicker and faster than the same year four. Just because the speedometer goes to 160 doesn't mean the car does. Also - there is no V4 - it's an inline four.

My cousin has a Inline4 (as you say, V4) accord and he reached top speed. Top is about 120 something. Dont be fooled by the speedometer, because a stock accord cant get all the way to 160 because the speed limiter is around 120. Your car is a V6, sher it has dual exist like all V6 Honda's do, but basically, you have a 3.0L engine, rather then a 2.4L, and it has more horsepower and 2 extra cylinders. So if you were going to race your two Accords, your V6 vs your friends inline 4, your V6 would surely win.
