Do you have the right fuse in the compartment for it? If you have one that is a 5 and it should be a 10, then there is to much current going to that fuse. There could also be a loose wire some where that is causing a short circut on the fuses. Try small and simple first. Change your fuses to a 10 0r 15. Try 10 first.

Do you have other crazy stuff wired to the circuit? if not I suspect a cracked taillight bulb, or a bad tailight bulb socket. Change all the taillight bulbs while inspecting the sockets for rust or broken wires. The dash lights go out because they are on the same circuit letting you know something is wrong in the rear. After that make sure you have the right amp fuse in the fuse panel.

Check the fuse to see you are using a correct amp fuse.Check if they are accessories wiring that are connected to the same electric line that are causing the short.Check if the electrical line are in direct contact touching any metal parts in the car.Good Luck
