Easy Buy a Honda Hatchback swap in a K20 I-VTEC, take out the back seats and the passenger side seat. Put a turbo kit along with the engine. Damm you will only be at maybe 300-400 ponies but you would smoke that Ferrari really far.

My guess is since it is a 4-6cylinder automobile, the choices go to the following, However this may only possibly beat a Ferrari F40(I don't know if these will fit) S2000: add NSX engine and add a stage 3 turbo, performance intake, performance air and oil filters, Performance muffler and exaust, and adjust displacment and cpu for max power. Price: around $18,000 (roughly 550 hp on a lighter S2000 VS. a heavy 500hp F40, S2000 would win). Anything is possible, Ferrari can be humiliated by a Honda, just like Ford humiliated them in the 60's with the GT40 (People thought that it was impossible, but Ford's GT40 did 1-2-3 finish in LeMans with Ferrari behind by a mile.).

Anything is possible man, you can get an s2000 to do that but the car wont be street legal. ALso is not just up to the motor you have to make the car lightweight. Honestly it would be extremely close but it can be done. Its really hard to say an extact price quote on how uch it would cost but it would be cheaper than getting a ferrari. Just look at the Lotus Exige 265 E concept , really small car 4 cylinder supercharged the car propersl from 0-60 in 3.88 sec. A ferrari F430 takes 4 secs. A ferratri Enzo V12 takes 3.65 sec thats just 20 nano seconds faster,

For not a $1 more than 6 grand you could have a ferrari eater. Its called a motor swap. Buy a cheap hatchback ($1500), build a cr-vtec ($3000), then NOS or turbo it. Even naturally aspirated it could give some ferarris a run for their money if tuned right.

I think there was an article in a British magazine MAX POWER that shows a 7th generation Civic with modified internals with turbo running about 21 psi making about 650~ 700 hps. With all interior removed, the car was beating a F40 all day on the straights and on the track.
