DOHC. SOHC VTEC only has the VTEC cam profile for the intake valves. The DOHC setup allows for increased valve lift and duration on both intake and exhaust valves.

Ok lets first talk about price.Sohc:-Is better and cheaper then any b-serious out there.-You can build up for boost and still be cheaper then a b-serious-You can run 12's and still be cheaper then a GSR swapDohc:-Cost moreVtec or Non Vtec:Sohc:-Most OBD-0 engines from the SOHC arent vtec-92-00 Came in Vtec and non but Vtec is better-Dohc:-88-00 camer in vtec and non Peformance:Sohc:-Yes many people tend to swap out there SOHC Vtec motors for a DOHC motor. Most these people are in the heavy models of there car EX/Si. Heres a note why didnt Honda make an EX Hatch for 1992-00 mainly because the 127HP motor would of compete against its higher price Si's. -Dohc:-A Dohc Vtec has more trq and HP, turbo a stock b16 on a drag radial in a 2000lb street driven car can clip 12's Some things people said on this answer:"SOHC has one cam lube for intake and DOHC have one for intake and one for exhaust"No, the SOHC share the same cam lubes for intake and exhaust or how would they remove the exhaust? My thoughts:Budget wise a SOHC vtec isnt a bad motor it sures you low 15's in the 1/4 its cheap and turbo it be a quick SOB. A DOHC motor like the one Im installing in my Honda build GSR will insure my civic wagon to see hi 14's mid 14's on a radial and boost well ever seen a 12's wagon there be one.

Dohc vtec because they flow better for the most part, can be tuned easier, for example with cam gears you can advance the intake cam and retard the exhaust cam. With a sohc you can only go one way because both the intake and exhaust cam lobes are on the same camshaft.

DOHC. If u dunno wat both stands 4 here they are. SOHC-(single overhead cam), n DOHC(double/dual overhead cam). SOHC engines have a single camshaft that controls the exhaust and intake valves. DOHC has 2 camshafts and control the intake and exhaust, independently.
