Default 90 Honda Civic Clutch Problem?

I have a 1990 honda civic dx sedan, Recently i broke my clucth cable, bought a new one put it in but my car does not want to go into gear, it makes it seem like the cable is too long, but i made sure its the right year and eveything, what do you think its wrong withn it?

did you check the adjustment on it also the linkage it takes 2 people to install it cuase of the adjustment take to a tranny shop and have them check it

Your cable could just need adjusting, or you might have something else broken. ( The clutch, the pressure plate, and /or the throw-out bearing).

My car once had the same problem. It's not a Honda but I was at a stoplight and when I put the clutch pedal in and tried to put it in gear it wouldn't go in and then I realized that the clutch pedal was stuck to the floorboard and I had to take it out myself. If this is your problem, then I must warn you that you have to replace the whole clutch system in your car. Even if the clutch pedal is not sticking to the floor board, if the gears don't want to go in it is most likely that you're clutch system has expired. Go have it checked as soon as possible. Getting a new clutch system should be in less than 250 USD

I'd bet on your clutch being shot. Did your clutch get hard to press down on before the old cable broke? It's a pretty common problem on a old Honda.
