what type of engine does a 96 honda civic si come stock with?

Either a 1.5L or a 2.0L Fuel Injection.Me I like the 2.0's better they are a lot more powerful than the 1.5.So if you are looking to replace a engine you be better off putting the 2.0 Litter in.

sorry but FYI the SI model are only available in 92-95 hatchback and the 99 SI. and the newer models. a 92-95 civic si comes stock with a D16Z 125HP engine. The 1999 SI comes with a stock B16A 160HP engine. 96-98 are just lx, ex and dx.

96? no motor. The SI was not made in 1996. only 92-95, and re-introduced in 99-00. But the 92-92 has a 125 HP SOHC VTEC motor, while the 99-00 has the 160 HP DOHC VTEC motor.
