heres the thing... it only helps if you are already a MASTER of shifting... the thousanths of a second shaved off the 1/4 mile because of the time it takes to move the handle 4 inches or 3 and 1/2 with a short shifter.mostly its just so you can put it on the list of gay crap you did to your tuner.to sum it up... the mechanical limit of how fast it can be shifted will be just slightly faster... but if you dont got the skill to shift that fast anyway it wont matter.

ok here's the thing i'm not saying the first guy wasn't right, but i love details, now a short throw shifter, pending on wht brand you get, operate in many different ways, for example, the stock shifter on any vehicle has a 4" inch moving distance, which means you have to throw the shift longer to move into tht gear, well the first guy was right you have to master shifting in it's own. but he was wrong about one thing, you don't have to be a so called "master". simply understand the physics, a short throw shifter is a fraction of a second greater than regular now the reason they are split up in inches is because of some people don't know wht they're doing and so they throw 30,000 dollars in their ride then can't control the beast they created. the 3 1/2 inch short throw is for amateurs, the 3 inch is for intermediate, and the absolute 2 inch is for people who have mastered their car and understand everything about the car they are driving. so i hope this was hopeful if it will help i will give you the website in which to confirm this information, i'm on yahoo messenger if you have any questions. thank you for your time.
