whick engine is considered better the 2.0 that redlines higher or the 2.2 liter that has lower rpm. which one would be bettter for daily use, faster out of the box, more reliable and better to modify in the future. im 16 got my license and my dad is gettting me a car so i want to know if i should get a 2.0 or 2.2.

I used to sell Honda's and the 2.2 just had a little extra torque. By the average butt dyno, you would not even be able to tell the difference. The 2004 had some asthetically enhanced body parts and larger wheels than the previous years. I can tell you that the s2000 is not a very forgiving car when you lose control. be careful in the corners.

OK, first of all...please tell your very kind dad, "Shame on you sir, buying your 16 yr old new driver a $33K, S2000!" That's like teaching a private pilot to fly in a F16! Unfortunatley, statistically, teenage drivers have the highest accident rates, due mainly to inexperience & youthful folly. (Don't take this the wrong way, coming from a 52 yr old dad in the 'know' who speaks with a tone of parental 'love').That aside...The newer S2000 engine cranks the same 237 HP as the smaller one, but does so as you mentioned, from a lower RPM. The newer engine (theoretically) should produce more torque & also last longer since it will be stressed less than the 2.0 version. Honda aparently wanted to make their fine sports car more street 'drivable' w/o the need to push it into 9K RPMs of VTEC grunt when going WOT. Either engine can be modified with 'go fast parts'. (Yikes, don't even go there!)

For daily use the 2.2L is better for daily driving.2.0 engine produces 240BHP.2.2 engine produces 237BHP.But 2.2 engine produces more torque at lower RPMs.
