what does idle means when it comes to car?

The idle is how many RPM's the motor is turning when sitting still at idle (Not having your foot on the gas).

It means the engine is running, but the car is at a standstill.

Sits in a parked position with its engine running without the gas being applied.

when the car is sitting in park running it is at idle speed.
