92 Honda Civic LX overheating, new water pump, new thermostate. When overheating, can turn on heater, and fan, then the temperture goes down and all is well. What could the problem be. Also, AC works, but car will stall, when idling, my car is a standard shift. What could the problem be.

Yeah, something is up with your radiator fan. Either the motor is dead or a relay. As for the AC problem, that's your Idle-up system. It's either a valve or a switch that tells the engine to idle up because the AC is on.

my dad had this same problem, with the exact same car. check the water pump and the head Gasket. i think the problem is that you are leaking coolant and the water is mixing in with the coolent. if your fixing it your self, i have some other pointers. 1. label everything. 2. organization. 3.clean everything (heads, valves, wires, anything you can clean. 4 the most important. since you are all the way into the cambers you should change the piston rings. my dads went. hope this helped.

It sounds like your headgasket. However, it check to see if your fans are working. Also, have you considered your temperature sending unit. I used to own a CR-V that had an overheating problem at one time. I spent $1,100 having the entire cooling system replaced- including both fans. It still overheated. Eight different repair shops (including two Honda dealers)told me that it was the early stages of headgasket failure. I called Autozone one day for the headgasket kit and the parts guy asked me if I had considered replacing the temperature sending unit before a headgasket replacement. He said that it was a common Civic issue and a CR-V is based on the Civic. It was only $18 so I replaced it. Can you believe it stopped overheating? I had spent $1,100 because of an $18 part was malfunctioning making it appear that there were other issues with my Honda.
