No way do not buy the car. If it is only 6 years old & has that many miles on it it's not worth $8,000, & you should definitely verify what the dealer tells you by taking the car to a mechanic & getting it checked out.

I would imagine that the problems are minor, those are very durable cars, but I would still have it knocked down to $4,000, because what the dealer said was a lie...

They are lieing of course. The Check engine light comes on from the computer that says there is a major issue with the car engine. Do not get the car. Be careful, they can reset the computer and clear the light and it will come on after 2 - 300 miles later.

Do not buy this car. There is a problem with the car and the salesman is not being honest with you. Walk away or have your mechanic check it out. I would walk.

My SRS light came in, at around the same mileage. I still have the SRS sign, over and above the check engine sign (since, 180K miles) at 249K highway mileage. Car still works great ! !The SRS sign was fixed by the dealer once, but came on again and I never bothered to go back as, I believe the OPDS sensor is malfunctioning. The check engine sign usually is associated with the gas cap not being tightened properly, but if it stays long, it could be a Air Sensor problem. Ensure that the exhaust manifold/convertor is ok. If not, it would take approx $1500 to fix it.
