Have your gas tank vent system checked for leaks or a bad check valve. The dealer can pressure test the system or sometimes your local emission test can check it for free.

Its called a reserve just in case your someone who really likes to run your car low on gas. Its a good thing to have.

be careful if you overfill the tank gas will get into your evaporateive emissions system and cause problems that are not cheap to fix. it clicks off because the tank is full
