building your stock single cam will never get great numbers withough forced induction but you can get some decent gains starting with a header, exhaust, cold ait intake, pullies, a cam regrind. theres a huge aftermarket for those cars.

If you are looking for 30-50 HP then all you can do is an engine swap, or turbo. Since your car is an automatic, all the bolt on parts will not really give you any power since they make 90% of their power at the top end of the RPM range. Your car is power challenged from the factory putting down about 92 HP at the wheels. By adding a header, cold-air intake and FULL catback exhaust you are only going to be getting about 10 HP, and thats going with a name brand company such as AEM, Greddy, and DC sports. this alone will cost over $1000. A B16 swap will give you about 150 HP at the wheels, plus the added bonus of VTEC. the complete swap installed will run about $2,200. Despite the claims of most manufacturers bolt-on parts only work well when paired together and the power band is maxed out. Again since you car is auto and it shifts for you none of the parts that bolt on will ever reach their power output potential unless you smash you gas everytime and keep the passing gear active. You could turbo that motor but sinc it is weak internally your maximum gain will be about 50-60 HP, and it will cost about $4,000 IF DONE CORRECTLY! Now for 1/2 that price you can do the swap, get the same amount of HP and still have room for more gains if your need should ever arise.
