Don't start with a really slow car and try to make it less slow. Just start with a faster car! I would recommend a 2nd gen Eclipse GSX. It's pretty quick and they make lots of parts for it. Also its AWD so it will handle better.

You can't put the word fast and Honda in the same sentence. Unless you include the word not. If you care what's under the hood why are you wasting your time with a Honda.

Yes don't start with a slow car. Like a lot of Honda's buy a for a few thousand then turn around and put several more into to it and get what a 15 sec car!! What about something faster to begin with like a turbo or a V8.

If you are looking for something to modify, 7-8k usually isn't enough to do a swap(worth doing) and suspension work, and of course have it look good. I good swap would be something like an H22b(google it) K20a(expensive) or a B18c. But any swap is going to cost a bit. If you don't necesarily need an import, you could pickup a decent LS1 F-body for less than 8k, and have a pretty fun car.I have an S13 swapped with suspension, but it looks like crap(just needs paint) and I did me own swap and got a good bit of stuff second hand and still have spent 6.5k(including the car at 1200 bucks). If I had the money at once I would probably tried to find a Trans Am. Don't get me wrong I love my 240. especially runninr low 13 sec. 1/4 mile. There is a link to a pic below, not necesarily a lady puller!

Your only option if you have to tinker is an EF Civic or 1990- 1991 Honda CR-X and mod one of those. Personally, I'd get a 1996 or 1997 Acura Integra GSR. They're pretty good stock. Don't even bother with an Eclipse. They're inexpensive to purchase because you'll be spending what you saved on repairs. The turbos are impressive performing cars but all Mitsus cost more to fix on average than a Hondas. If you want to make a car go faster, expect to spend at least $2K just for starters.

You must not know much about cars.If you want a fast car why are you thinking about economy cars with small engines? That's a total contradiction! Look at SPORTS CARS with 8 CYLINDER ENGINES......duh! I'm a girl and even I know that!
