Why does any company stop making a model? Not enough people buying it leading to a loss of profits. If it had been making money, they'd keep on making it...

People are demanding more room than the EV offered.Milage isn't everything. If you can't take more than two people and a reasonable amount of cargo, the car won't sell. That, as well as the really ugly visual design of the coupe, just turned off potential buyers.

CA abandoned its Zero Emission Vehicle mandate so Honda did not have to produce a electric car anymore. GM's EV-1 is the most famous (and best) electric car that was made to meet the CA ZEV mandate in the 1990s, but Toyota, and Honda also were required to build electric cars. Toyota's offering was a half-assed converted Rav4. Honda's offering was the EV+. The Ev+ was a unique model that did not share its body with any other US Honda. The EV+ worked well as a city car. Like the EV-1 and the Rav4 electric, because it was so expensive the EV+ was only available as a subsidized lease. Like GM famously did with the EV-1, Honda pulled the EV+ from the market and scrapped all the cars when they came off lease.
