If I get my car lowered and say the stock struts and shocks go out in a year (I don't know the average time) will I have to replace them again in same amount of time? That would really turn me off from the idea of lowering my car...

In order to properly lower your car, the shocks/struts need to be replaced with ones designed for that purpose. The quality of the parts you buy will determine their life expectancy. High quality shocks/struts designed for the amount of drop you are going to do should equal or exceed the factory equipment.

If you are lowering your car and are worried about this get a FULL COILOVER system. But if you lower your stock vehicle with factory struts YOU WILL BLOW THEM. Look at it like this, the factory struts on most cars run between $80-$110. Thats close to $400 to replace them. A decent coilover system can be bought for $600. Now you factor in the cost of the springs/ coilover sleeves you are looking at and its almost the same price. BUT you only have to buy them once. A full coilover system will not only allow you to change your ride height at will, but the struts that come with them will give you a better than stock ride, which means NO BOUNCING! the full coilover is also the easiest to install as all you have to do is pull out your COMPLETE factory strut/spring and replace with the new unit.
