92 Honda Civic SiHow much faster is a V-Tec DOHC to a SOHC? as far as horsepower.What makes them so much more???

I dont know the figures, but for a SOHC engine, more power is developed low range (1000+rpm), but for a DOHC, more power is developed high range (4000rpm+).A vtech engine for honda usually has more horsepower and torque, however, it's not too significant of a difference.

okay if ur asking 1/4 mile time its about 1.5 sec from like a 16.6 to about a 15.2 so its a pretty big difference. i have owned both a sohc and a dohc vtec. oh the hp is like 160 for dohc and 127 for the sohc at the flywheel

The US version of the 92 civic did not come with the DOHC. Only the JDM version. As far as HP and torque, the DOHC eats the SOHC everytime. The reason they cost more is because they are in demand, and pretty hard to find one that is unmolested. The difference is comparable to putting a turbo on the SOHC version. The DOHC will have almost the same output naturally aspirated as the turbo SOHC.
