Default Just got a Civic Si Sedan and want to give it more HP and torque, but no clue how, where, or...

...what to start on. I got a Honda Civic Si Sedan and I wanted to increase it's HP and torque for better performance, but don't know what, how or where to start. You can say I am a noob on how to work on cars, but I am learning how to work with cars. I need expert advice and maybe a few site that sells the parts I need.

First, pull the engine and drop in a turbo v8. Just kidding. First, learn about how an engine works. This will prevent you from getting ripped of by people selling bogus speed parts, like the $20 ebay "performance chips". Then join a civic forum and read up on what has worked, and what hasn't. Do a lot of reading, then ask your questions if you still have them. Then hit up the recommended trustworthy sites with a plan of action, rather than haphazard part buying. Buying with a plan will save a lot of money down the road by making sure all your parts will work with each other. Good luck.

A new exhaust system will give you more bang for your buck than anything else. Cold air intake helps also.

i would have to agree with andy up there,But a first base would be a decent exhaust system,im from australia so systems will be different over there,a cold air intake with a K&N filter will also help it breathe easier.A performance chip tuned by dyno a set of high performance leads and plugs and a MSD ignition system, extracters ect.....But just read up and find out for sure whats gunna work best for you and your budget.

its easy to put more power on your caras long you have money or not or you want totally change your speed or just change with limited money.but first thing what u have to do is tune up your car, regular or digital tune up.change your oil, filters, sparkplug with performance type, you can ask them to change with that(with special price ofcourse)after that you can start from intake, change your intake system with performance intake like AIM intake, after you change your intake system you can change your exhaust system.now you already have regular performance speed system.if you want more speed, put turbo or supercharger ( i forget if in your car you can put turbo or supercharger, just look for the info about your car for turbo or supercharger)if you can put turbo or supercharger you have choices ,how many horse power more you wanna put in your car(thats depend on your budget, more power more expensive)ussually for japan car its easy to put power until 1000hp as long you have the money.so thats it,but remember more power you give to your car more gassoline your car need.

Two of the most popular and most bang for the buck upgrade is (a) exhaust headers (b) short air intake. You will get more HP/Torque increase with exhaust header swap. But short air intake swaps are easier to do. Doing both will give defintely give a good kick in the BooTacks.Basically you are letting your car breath easier.===My nephew just got a new Si and it came with an short air intake system. So you just might have only one option.

If your not going turbo, go with a cold air intake, headers, exhaust to begin with this will give you a few horsepower, after you get these if its not enough later you could upgrade your valve train, everything from cams, to cam gears and valve springs. Make sure you have a plan because if you dont you could end up wasting a lot of money, like if you were to go turbo after you have this set up, you would have to get rid of intake, headers and cams would have to upgraded to turbo cams and might have to upgrade exhaust. Start with a Hp goal and list what products you want to get to reach your hp.

Just like everyone else said, start with intake and exhaust. Just remember you get what you pay for. Cheap, crappy parts can make you lose power and will never be reliable like the parts they are copying. Save up and spend money on good parts. research is the key.
