Default what causes a loud noise when turning left or right on a 1999 crv / The noise only occurs when

turning sharp? noise is a loud noise only when sharply turning left or right but not going straight or breaking. The CRV is four wheel drive and the suspension seems pretty solid.

If the noise is a loud clicking or popping sound, the CV joints are the likely culprit. Did you add taller tires on your 4X4? Thet may be rubbing the inner fender well. Also some older power steering pumps make a racket if they are turned all the way to the stops.

sound like it could be your cv joints look and see if the boots on your axle are torn and grease is all over most likely the joint right wear the axle goes into your wheel area.

Your problem is the rear differential, and what you can do is have the fluid replaced with "dual pump" fluid available at Honda dealers; Hopefully, this problem just started on your car, and by just replacing the fluid will solve the problem; If the problem is being there for a while, there is the possibility that internal parts in the differential have being damaged, and it will be a costly repair as a the only repair is a new (or used) differential.
