1996 honda civic EX coupe does it have a vtec motor?

Not sure, but I think it should say right on the engine if it has vtec. So go take a look at one.

Yes it has a V-TECH SOHC

yea ur car has V-TEC. all hondas that are ex or si come wit it. if u find another model with vtec, its definetly a swapped motor in it. like the dx or lx ect... ur motor should be a d16y8

They came with a vtec motor although i believe they came as an option so yours might not, but they can have them

Yes, 96 civic ex cpe have V-Tec motor.. If the block is D16Y8 Then it's vtec..

Please not all model EX 1996-2000 came with V-tec and 1992-1995 EX SI came with the same SOHC Vtec motor. Most EX models have sunroof and RPM tach and has loads of options. Another way to tell if its vtec look at the spark plugs if the plugs are closer to the front of the car then yes it has vtec then looking at your block is another clue. If the motor reads D16Z6 it means it has the older 1992-1995 motor.

it might ...just open the hood and check ...i have a 94 civic vtec engine for sale with a manual tranmission you might be interested

D16y8 =vtec D16z6=non vtec, optional in the ex, usually yes but i have seen some with the d16z6 where their not vtec (from the factory)look on the engine block theres a small square spot you can see the engine model there...if you cant find it it will usually say Honda 16valve (saying nothing about vtec) on the valve covers top of the motor on the z6on the y8 it will say vtec on the top usually
