I want a toyota or honda hybrid wagon or small suv that is affordable, does anyone knowif there are any planned.? I am driving a 93 camry wagon that is so great but, you know, it's almost 15 so things are falling apart. I need the space of a wagon as I am an artist and I a carrying paintings around a lot. Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It's considered an SUV, but it's based on the Camry platform- so it's more of a car. Just the aesthetics shout SUV. The Prius is a hatchback if that counts. Also, why pay the premium for a hybrid? It could take up to 10 years to recoup the difference in price unless you drive over 45,000 miles a year. Not only that, only certain mechanics can or will work on them and when the battery does finally die, it'll cost you more than the conventional engine that's in the car. Also, the environmental reason is a untrue because the battery's environmental disposal costs will be steep since batteries are not environmentally friendly.

Honda does not have any plans for a hybrid SUV in the near future. The Accord no longer comes in a wagon. Neither does the Camry. The Honda line has a Fit which is a small but spacious wagon. It gets 31-38 MPG. There is also the CR-V small SUV that gets 22-27 MPG.they will be offering a Hybrid Fit in 2009.On the toyota side, you may want to look at the Matrix. The Prius is a hatchback, but i don't think it will give you the space you are looking for.I think you're best bets are the Matrix or a Fit. There is also a Pontiac Vibe which is basically a Toyota Matrix with Pontiac clothing - but a little less.
