Default Honda accord 1999 stops all of a sudden even while driving at a high speed of 35mph.?

Hi,Honda accord 1999 stops all of a sudden even while driving at a high speed of 35mph. What could be the reason in the worst case scenario. Please advise. When the car stops, one has to bring it to Parking gear and then restart and restarts successfully. The frequency of this happing is varying, it happens once every day and may start recurring after that.

This could possibly be the accelerator modulator . I have had similar problem`s on other makes of car that suddenly stop while you are driving , Best advice i can give to you is take it to a garage and have the computer read by them ( cost about £25 ) a modulator will cost around £80 new & £30 from a scrap yard .

My 1999 2 door honda accord was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the timing belt. Get it checked quick because it can become a very expenisve fix if it breaks all the way.

I am not by any means saying that this is definately your problem, but it is a possibility. You could have a wire that is shorting out somewhere. When the engine begins to heat, the computer will shut itself off. This is what happened to my 1996 Pontiac GA. Best wishes!

Could be a loose or corroded battery connection.Try playing with the wire to see if the engine stop.

If I had to guess i would say it may be the coil/igniter assembly in the distributor failing once hot. This is a commom issue with Honda accords.

you might have a problem with your fuel getting in and or spark, if u can do it yourself, change ur sparks, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter...if that doesnt help, take it fo a diagnosisalso make sure ur idle is normal

35Mph is not a high speed. Work on your self confidence and try not getting scared. your subconscious is applying the breaks hard causing the car to stop all of a sudden. If you cannot remedy this situation try public transportation where you can meet many people with the same issues as you.Good Luck

Your problem is most likely the electrical portion of the ignition switch; There is a recall on on your year and model vehicle; Take it to your local Honda dealer and let them determine if the problem is being caused by the switch; If it is,they will replace it free of charge; If it's not then you will have to pay for the diagnosis.
