I currently have 17" rims on my Civic and I have no scrubbing issues while turning or while cornering, hitting bumps, or anything of the sort. Oh and I also have Dropzone Coilovers set at about 2.75" of a drop. The key is what the gentleman said above... You need to get LOW profile tires. I chose the 205-40 R17's for mine because it was the thinnest tire to go with for my application. Otherwise, it would have done all the things I said it wasnt doing (scrubbing)... Also, another thing to look into, is the offset of the rims. Too much offset will set the rim literally OUTSIDE the fender well making it DEFINITELY scrub. You need to see about your own cars attainable offset to accurately gage what you can do to your rims, and what you cannot. Also, I recommend buying aftermarket disk brakes for your ride when you get 17"'s otherwise you will be replacing your brake pads every year or so... hahaAnd yes, as already said, you will have a very rough ride with this low of profile tires. With so little rubber itself between the road and rim, the shock of a bump is not absorbed like the larger profile tires. Also, if youre into horse power and saving as much of it as you can, go will smaller rims, because you will literally lose HP to the wheels because of the greater energy needed to move larger, heavier rims. Not much more power, but more none-the-less.
