lol yes you should be able to make 200hp with a supercharger on the stock internals. I would say sticking with the engine you have now is the easiest route. Engine swaps are costly and require alot of labor. You might make more power with the b18, but why would you want to if all you want is 200whp? Getting an intercooler might help you make a few more ponies. lol they only have 92hp? wow nevermind what I just said then

You will never get 200 hp out of the d16y7, with just a supercharger. It is only 92 hp to the front wheels in mint condition, and after a supercharger you are looking at about 140 HP. If you swaped in a B18b thats not much better, unless you plan on completly building it from the inside out. I would suggest either a B16A or B18C, not only are you going to get 152 WHP from the B16 and 160 WHP from the B18C, you will also have VTEC and a much better platform if you decide you want to go even faster. You can add a supercharger to either one and get over 200 HP, but I would definatly suggest going turbo as you will get more HP for the money. I currently have a 99 civic EX with a B16 swap, that is completly built, sleeved, and boosted and I drive daily at 337 HP on 15 lbs of boost, and when I drag race put down 497 HP on 35 lbs of boost.

i would say go with a low mile engine swap. The Ls would be a very good choice , and you could later make it a vtec if you so desire. Try for a JDM engine for they are usually low mileage and have more power than the us ones. Have you looked at a b-16 ?

I hang out with a guy that runs a boosted sohc civic with stock internals and it's pretty beefy. Nothing cooler than kicking a dohc's butt in a race with the underdog d series. Low comp internals and that motor will really eat some peoples lunches. I have a boosted b16 in my ek9 and find impressive that he can keep up with me sort of. One way or the other it'll be cool.

You have a D16Y7? This motor is capable of making 106bhp @6200rpm. As another guy said before, you are probably getting around 90hp @ the wheels. You also lose torque, as it is stored in the form of inertia, generally in the flywheel, which improves your car's driveability. These numbers (hp/tq) fluctuate depending on the condition of your engine/transmission. I highly doubt you will make 200hp with a D16Y7 running a supercharger. Turbo is the way to go, turbines are capable of making more peak power than superchargers. However, because turbine systems are more complex, they can be difficult to tune. You will mostly likely get 7 to 9 p.s.i. from a supercharger, whereas you can get 25+ p.s.i. from a turbine. Supercharger and turbine systems are fairly close in price, so that should not be an issue. You won't need an intercooler unless you are running more than 10 - 12 p.s.i.I can tell you OEM D-series rods can handle up to 200hp, but nothing more. I have had 2 different D-series motors making 200hp. I had a naturally aspirated D16Z6 making 197hp (ITB and direct-port nitrous injection) and a boosted JDM D15B making 202hp (on 17lbs). However, both motors went through complete tear-downs and rebuilds to handle that much power (I kept the stock rods because they were in good condition). I once had an '88 hatch with the famous "Frankenstein" motor, LS/VTEC...which is a Integra LS block with a B-series VTEC head. The LS block makes more torque than the GS-R block that orginally came with my swap.I use to have a daily driven, boosted '95 GS-R making over 500whp on 27lbs of boost. That car was fast and fun...I have a '93 hatch now with a K20A head matched to a K24 bottom-end, last time I ran it on the dyno it made 243whp and 181tq (all-motor). I have only had the K24A block for about 2 weeks now. I was pushing 280whp when I first swapped the K20A. I was running TODA Spec C cams, ITB's and a 2157cc stroker kit (12.4:1 compression). My hatch was loud as all get-out, considering my exhaust exited through a hole cut-out in front of the diver side front wheel. However, I am getting more torque with the K24A bottom-end, and now I am looking at forced-induction. Can you say 500+whp and a curb weight of 2250lbs...daily driven? Can you say 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile?
