Depends what you want from your car. The SI is a higher performance Civic which is tuned to produce higher horsepower and better acceleration and handling. Get the SI if you want an affordable speed racer. If you're just getting a car to commute back and forth, the regular civic is just fine. You will get better gas mileage out of the regular civic and you will not have to pay for premium unleaded which is what is usually required for high performance cars. It is only worth the extra money if you like high performance cars and will be using it every now and then to have some fun ; )Hope this helps and good luck! = )

The Si is the same size as a regular Civic. However, most of the differences are under the hood. The Si has a bigger engine, bigger tires and wheels, tuned suspension, sportier seats and for 2007 you can get a 4 door SI for the first time. Also, the Si only comes in a 6 speed manual transmission, wheas the other Civic have a 5 speed manual or an automatic tranny option. The Si is worth the money. The question is: Is the standard Civic more of what you want or is the Si your cup of tea? Also, remember that if you don't want to spend the extra on the Si, you can still go for the EX and get pretty good performance also. It just won't be Si performance.

Major real world difference is probably about $5000 if you compare EX (top of the line non-Si) to the Si. With the "vanilla" EX, it MSRP for about $18700 (manual) but you can easily cut close to if not more than $2000 off. With the Si, it's MSRP $21200 and I'm pretty sure it's selling well and dealers won't budge too much on price. Then HP difference is 145 (I believe for all Civic) compare to 196 (or 198, for the Si). Another difference, can you drive a stick? The Si only comes with a six-speed, while all the other Civics you can have with an automatic. For me, I drive a stick, so I wouldn't think twice about getting a Si over any other Civic (except possibly the Hybrid, for environmental reasons).187 212
