yes gsr is a vtec motor and one of the fastest until you get into the v6 vtecs

A true GSR has the 170 HP DOHC VTEC engine code B18C1. The Type-R has the 190 HP DOHC VTEC engine code B18C5.

actually type r hs 185.... but thats just what the manual says, and thats not wheel horsepower, thats at the crankshaft. yes gsr is a vtec motor.

Yes, a 1998 GS-R is a VTEC. * VTEC started in about '92 with the GS-R. * Acura/Honda came out with the Type-R in '94 or '95. * They continued to build the GS-R and Type-R with the 1.8L VTEC, and the GS and LS with the 1.8L non-VTEC.
