Default I have an 51 plate Honda Civic can anybody help regarding the programming of a key fob?

I have a keyfob which works but needed a spare so I have purchased one from Ebay. It comes with instructions as to how to program it. Does anbody know if you program the new key, will the existing one still work?Should have added, the codes on the key fobs are the same except for the 6 digit code above the code CE0891! Are they compatible?

When you initiate the programming routine you need to have all of the key fobs for the car available to program at the same time. When you initiate the programming routine you will essentially erase the coding for the original remote and establish a new code to which both the new and the existing fobs are programmed to.the usual process to program the remote starts with your getting inside the vehicle and shutting all the doors. then put the ignition key in the ignition cylinder. Turn the ignition key to ON and press a button on one of the remotes. Then turn the key OFF and then back to ON and press the button on the same remote you used during the first cycle. Do this two more times using the same remote for all 4 cycles. On the fourth cycle, you should hear the door locks "click" in response to pressing the key fob button. Once that happens, switch the ingition OFF and then ON and use the other remote to lock or unlock the door. you should get a response out of the second remote as well. Both remotes should then be on the same code. turn the ignition OFF, take the key out of the ignition and then test both remotes to see that they work. If they both do, then you're done. If they don't then you'll have to start the process again with the one that does work. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times for the sequence to kick in.if your instructions read otherwise, defer to those instructions.hope that answers your questions
