The only difference between CX and DX was the wheel covers. the CX came with just a steel wheel w/o cover since it was the cheaper one, the DX came with plastic cover. And if I remember correctly, they had different patterns on the upholstery. Other than that they were exact same car mechanically.

im not to sure never looked into the cx but i got a dx. most of the time the only difference in trim are small things like power locks power windows. rims no rims. the dx itself has no power locks or windows. and the rims come same as cx. i had to order my rims off a 99 si hatch. oh i got a 98 civic dx

The main differences are CX hatchbacks do not have power steering or power anything. The DX came with power steering standard but only if it was equipped with an auto. transmission. Neither CX or DX came with power windows or locks. I also think CX hatchback came on steelies where as the DX came with hubcaps.

The CX is the base model. It has less equipment-which is odd being that the DX doesn't have much to begin with. I also know that the CX is in high demand in the tuner community because it's the lightest late model Civic available. With a nice engine swap, these machines can eat V8s for breakfast.
