...rev, hd shift? Car will drive fine and then begins to act up. could it be a combination of a bad ECU and a bad Trans. ECU?

I am assuming that the trans is an automatic, if so, then yes a bad ECU will cause the vehicle to act as though the trans is going out. my reference, however, is a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 in which the electronic shift control module had went out and the trans would not shift properly and would cause it to slip sometimes.

you said it drives just fine then starts acting up?? let me guess from cold start drives fine for 10-15 mins? your ecu could be overheating, i used to have a civic that had a over heating ecu i popped in open and put 2 computer prossecsor fans in there i ran by switch, never had a problem with it from that point
