while i was driving the car I started to hear like a thuddering sound, as I kept going it kept getting louder and louder it sounded really bad like the engine was going to blow up. I pulled over right away, I started the car up again, and it did the same thing louder, and it kinda sounded like metal on metal? Has this ever happend to anyone? Any idea's on what is wrong?

I need way more information than this. Where was the sound coming from? Was there smoke? Did anything else happen or just the sound? try and be more specific as cars can have lots and lots of different problems.

I fixed an Accord the other day and it was the harmonic balancer that was bad. With the engine running, open the hood and look at the very bottom pulley( what the belt rotates on) If it is wobbling, thats the problem. The pulleys are located on the drivers side of the engine
