Default Performance chip question?

What am I facing if I choose to install one of those 30 dollar performance chips on ebay. They are the kind that you just bolt on top of your existing chip. Am I risking serious engine harm? Do they actually work? I heard that they do not actually void warrenties and they are safe, is this true as well? I have a 2006 accord v6 coupe with manual transmission

Thats a good price for a chip, there wont be any engine harm but it may require you to use better fuel. And yeah they work.

2006 v6 honda? why bother with a chip?it will invalidate any warranty,no question, and less economy,i bet the people who sell these cheap chips dont run them on their own cars.

I don't work for honda but I have had alot of experience with dodge in this area. It will always void the warranty if /when you do engine damage. Any performance chip is altering the original vehicle configuration. I would contact the dealership where you bought the car and get their answer.

Do not buy the chip, they do not work. Just think about it, $30 for a performance chip to add ??? horsepower. I have a 2002 RSX type S and they sell those for my car as well. It can damage the ecu in the long run. Call honda and see how much one of those cost.

do not buy one. i have seen several shops buy them and dyno afterwards and they do nothing, its a scam. if you want a little more power, get a cold air intake, headers, and an exhaust

Well you'll need to sauder it on to your current ECU. After doing so your check engine light might come on and you can will run differently. Plus you won't pass smog with it becasue the chip override the old one and it's making the car run like a race car.

As long as this is not one of those 30 cent resistors some sell on ebay and its actually a pigy back chip they do work. Its not going to make your car a race car but they can help. They reprogram these chips to change your fuel curve and vtec engagement etc. Shouldnt do any harm to the engine providing its not too aggressive. And these do need to be soldered on like the previous posted said.

I was thinking about getting a performance chip too, but it looks like these things don't do crap. I was reading this article about it, and it looks these things don't work at all
