If it doesn't have 1, 3, or 5th gear, you have transmission problems (obviously). You might want to have a professional fix or check that. As for over-heating...check your coolant. If that's not the problem, then you're going to need to take it to a shop. It doesn't sound like you know all too much about cars, so this might be tough to do on your own. Then again, I may be making an assumption too quickly.Edit: Relax, dude. Don't flip on me. I'm not a certified mechanic...just making suggestions. If you're really looking at a do-it-yourself job on this, good luck. I'm not saying have a mechanic fix everything...just have him check it out and let you know what the deal is. I can't tell you as I haven't, nor can I look at your car.Edit Edit: If you know a lot, wouldn't you either 1: know enough to use the serial number to look up all your car's info, or 2: at least know more than just a description of what the area the water's leaking looks like...? Just some thoughts...not trying to be a jerk or anything..

Your water pump may be bad. When a water pump goes out there is a small hole that water will flow out of to relieve pressure. About the tranny I have know idea.

as far as the tranny your syncros inside the tranny are proabaly bad and needs to be rebuilt it would proabaly be cheaper to buy a used tranny. and the coolant leak does it look like a plug the size of a half doller? it could be a leaking frost plug witch can cause air into the cooling system and interupts the flow of coolant get the leak fixed and bleed the system
