Default Honda Civic owners, is it possible to change the rotors yourself on a 99 ex model?

I heard you must take it to the dealer to get them pried off. I want to do it myself and need to know if this is possible. thanks

if you can remove the tire and brake caliper competently then the rotor removal is no problem what so ever. The rotor on that year is not held on by the wheel bearing as the earlier models were. I think the your advisors are thinking that your car has the rotor with the wheel bearing hub assembly and that does take quite a lot longer to change that type.If the rotors have never been off you may find two screws on the rotor that are located between the holes where the wheel studs come through the rotor. if they are there, then you'll have to take them out to remove the rotor. If they are not there, then the rotor will simply come off once you've removed the brake caliper.as a note, don't let the brake caliper hang by the rubber hose after you remove it. otherwise the hose may be damaged. Use a wire hanger to tie it to the coil spring or strut while you are working on the rotor. It shouldn't take you more than an hour to remove and replace both rotors in your driveway.hope that answers your question
