Yes, it has been done plenty of times. Check out hybridracing.com for mounts, axles, wiring harness, and all other parts you need to complete the swap. I have a 00 civic coupe with a k20 in it.

Well I would take a look at the engine code of your 1.7L and the engine code for the 2.0 is a K20... then try and find a swap but Hasport makes just about every swap kit possible without having to do alot of hacking to make the engine fit in the bay. Check them out for some more details.

to answer your question you don't have to fabricate mounts or make anything the only fabrication maybe cutting a whole to get the cable shifter linkage in the car. but be ready to spend alot of money. k seires engine is about 5,000. mounts about 500 about 7,000 all together. theres an option that just became available no to long ago called an h2b swap which is an hseries motor matched to a b series tranny supposedly the k series killer

Yes it will fit however you will need to do a bit of modification for the engine to fit. Also that would mean relocating a raditor, or sacrificing the AC.
