Default 1997 Prelude Engine?

I'm thinking about buying a '97 Prelude, but it needs a new motor. Can I just drop a '97 Accord engine into it? If not I'm gunna have to buy a new DOHV VTEC. My friend has a 97 accord that was totaled but the engines good, so i can buy it for like $300, instead of $1700 for the VTEC

The H22 (prelude engine) is much better. Most peole put prelude engines in accords because they deliver better torque and horsepower and are lighter than the V6. If ur into performance go for the original prelude engine (2.2L H22)

The thing is your car is a DOCH and the accord is a SOCH. After installing it it might work however people will think your wierd when you pop the hood and you don't want that kinda of attention. However The DOCH VTEC motor is a good motor however it eats only supreme gasoline. If you happen to put in 89 0r 87 the car will run like shit. I recommend that you get that DOCH Vtec engine, it may cost more but it is well worth the money.
