Thinking of selling my 2000 Honda Accord SE with 48,000 miles and buying a 2002 Volvo S80 fully loaded with 80,000 miles. I would use either car for a 50 mile commute a day. What do you think?

Volvo. Safest car on the road + great reliability record...Hondas are overrated... they ride the coattails of Toyota to get their 'reliability' reputation.

Bad move! A 7 year old Honda with 48K is much more reliable and efficient than a 5 year old Volvo w/ 80k!!

both are great cars...i would keep the honda thought or upgrade to a newer one....just because its so reliable and hold the value of the car more then any car on the road right now....

I vote for the Honda. I have a 90 Accord that is still going strong with 230,000 mi and no major problems.

well, Hondas are great, I have one now.BUT I had a 1966 Volvo 220.... ran GREAT and it had 265,000 miles on it.... what a car!I would say... Volvo~ they also have a great rep for safety, which is important since you drive so much....be safe out there

it depends on the price of the vovlo, but i would stay with the honda. just put some money into customizing it (sound system, tinted windows, body kit, rims, etc.) so that you'll be interested in the car again. Plus the honda will have better gas mileage than the vovlo so i would stick with it for the 50 mile a day commute.

i own a shop,and id take the Volvo its the safest and will out last the Honda also,and if you get in an accident in the Volvo you,ll probably live to tell about it,but the Honda is not as safe,good luck with it hope this helps.

I have had several used Honda's over the years and have had excellent service 4 times your mileage. I had a Volvo 30 years ago and it was Ok. It did require repairs and parts were astronomical. Honda parts aren't cheap but with 48K you aren't going to need much. Good Luck.
