what is the best year model and make of the honda civic?

I'm not sure about the best year but I unequivocally say it's Honda by make.

Simple, fun, economical & fast as hell, I'd love to find another!! & what is up with Honda discontinuing or rarely making Civic hatchbacks, just as so many other automakers are warming up to them & realizing how fabulous they are?! Friends always commented how I'll always drive a Civic & I'd always reply 'only til there's something better'. I now drive a Scion xb (Though for the '08s Scion says they've 'listened to the American market'& they are now building a crappier, bigger, less fuel effecient, rounder, not as cute version that will be quite different from what's available in Japan so who knows what I'll be driving a year from now.)

the 95-96 model of civic was the best just because the shape and stuff plus those years have the most mods like bodykits and all that stuff

The latest and greatest was the '95 Civic. This was last year of the "round" body before they went square for two generations, then got back right again with the current generation. I had a '95 and it went 220K without issue and then I sold it off to a friend for $800 and it's still running for him (250K last I heard). The engine was okay (102hp for DX and LX, 120+ for EX) on power, but it just ran and ran.Good luck finding your perfect Civic.

92-95 civic hatchback( also known as EG) its the most sportiest design i have ever seen just needs to be lowered and some good wheels.
