Default Why do ricers in Honda Civics think their cars are so fast?

I drive an M3 BMW and smoke these guys on the regular.

Because they feel they have something to prove. Not all drivers of Hondas feel this way either.

When I was 18 I had a Honda CRX stock. Today's version of the ricer. Due to the sound of the engine, feel of the car, I thought I had the fastest thing on the road. But at times I realized I didn't.Worse was going between two towns 100 miles apart at like 2am. Had it pegged out screaming at 130mph and headlights gained on me like I was sitting still. A MR2 pulls up next to me, jumps it a few times and just continues on like I am some old grandma doing 45mph.Same reason you bought your M3, when you drive it, it feels fast to you. But give me a GS430 and I'll make you stare at my rear end non stop. Give me a 76' Vette big block, and I'll be out of sight before you hit 3rd gear.Speed and sense is all relevant to the person, age and how their senses pick up such items. Its why you see some sitting in a Ford Taurus wagon doing 35mph but are gripping the wheel like they are going to die. Their senses are telling them they are going fast.

I don't know, but whenever my son and I are riding in my V-6 Saturn, my engine sounds like a V-8 with its 24 valves, and the Hondas all sound like a raspberry. We always laugh when they accelerate! Too funny!

If I can smoke a Civic in my 1989 Ranger with the STOCK 2.9L and Mazda M5OD transmission, they can't be that good. I smoke them when my box is full too. I had this one guy pissing me off, at the next set of lights, I smoked him and then at the next lights, he ended up pulling up beside me a few minutes later. And as a side note, front wheels "spinning" is not as cool as rear wheels smoking (and covering the area in smoke). I can tke many ricers in my Ranger, when I get my 351w into my ranger with a mated 5 speed out of a fox body 5.0L Mustang, and 3.73 gears. I think the 10" vented disc brakes on the front and 10" solid rear also make a nice touch.
